MSavvy: Leveraging Technology to Create Social Media Footprint across Cultures
A Training Programme by ATU-Net

Programme descriptions

SYNOPSIS
This programme provides exposure to participants strategies to communicate across cultures on cyberspace, with an emphasis on creating a social media footprint. Using a model called MSavvy that integrates both technology and language, participants will receive input on the use of language and technology to express themselves, create online identity, and project social presence, that are necessary for the development of personal branding and engagement in the online context. Opportunities for self-expression and online socialisation to form relationships and create real connections will be given to participants through activities where they create content in the form of video, share on a social media platform and engage with others online.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the programme, students should be able to use technology, language devices and non-verbal cues appropriate for the online contexts. Specifically, the participants will be able to

  • outline speech script to express thoughts and views
  • use video as a tool to record and express thoughts and views
  • interact on a social media platform across cultures

02.00 – 04.00 PM Input and Practice: Creating Social Media Footprint
05.00 – 06.00 PM Using Video: Practice, Press and Post
08.00 – 10.00 PM Online Socialisation Activities on Social Media Platform

Financial implications

INSTRUCTORS

  • Teaching fees, travelling, accommodation and meals to be borne by the organiser (APSSA2018) and according to the rates allocated for government servants
